Rotary Arts Conversation with Tim Kearney (Copy)

  • Park Avenue Community Center 129 Park Avenue Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, 19081 United States (map)

Join us for an in-depth conversation with architect Tim Kearney.

Tim Kearney is an architect, designer, and public servant whose work has been guided by a simple belief: thoughtfully designed spaces can strengthen communities and improve lives. As Design Principal of CuetoKEARNEYdesign in Swarthmore, he has spent more than three decades creating places where people gather, learn, perform, and connect.

Tim's portfolio reflects both artistic vision and civic purpose. His work includes concert halls, music centers, university buildings, firehouses, private homes, and community spaces, each designed with a deep respect for the people who will inhabit them. Before founding CuetoKEARNEYdesign, he spent 16 years with the internationally acclaimed architecture firm Venturi Scott Brown, contributing to projects for the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Walt Disney Company, and the Camden Children's Garden.

A passionate advocate for sustainable design, Tim has championed environmentally responsible architecture throughout his career. His firm's award-worthy work includes innovative projects such as a Net Zero home in Swarthmore and the Passivhaus-inspired Reservoir House in Upper Providence, demonstrating how beauty, functionality, and environmental stewardship can coexist.

Beyond his architectural practice, Tim has shared his love of design as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and an adjunct professor at Drexel University, while mentoring future architects as a guest juror at several regional universities.

Whether designing a performance hall, reimagining a civic space, or shaping public policy, Tim approaches every challenge with the curiosity of a designer and the conviction that creativity can build stronger communities. Today, in addition to leading CuetoKEARNEYdesign, he serves the residents of Pennsylvania's 26th Senate District, bringing the same thoughtful, collaborative approach that has defined his work as an architect to his role in public service.Rotary Arts Conversations offers audiences an opportunity to engage with accomplished artists and creative professionals in an intimate setting through moderated conversations followed by audience questions and a light reception.

The series continues this fall with storyteller Megan Hicks on Sunday, November 15 at 4:00 p.m.
