Description:
In this class, we’ll explore the fascinating world of mandalas with acrylic paints, combining color theory, design, and personal expression. The word mandala means “circle,” but mandala designs can incorporate squares, geometric shapes, patterns, and organic forms. We’ll also look to nature for inspiration, where patterns often radiate from a central point—flowers, tree rings, spider webs, and many other natural forms.
Psychologist Carl Jung was deeply interested in mandalas and created many himself. He viewed the mandala as a symbol of the self, inner balance, and wholeness making the process of creating one as meaningful as the finished artwork. Students will create their own unique mandala while exploring color relationships, pattern, symmetry, and individual creativity.
