What makes a great story—and what makes us stop, listen, laugh, and sometimes see the world a little differently?
Join us for an engaging Rotary Arts Conversation with acclaimed storyteller Megan Hicks, whose repertoire ranges from fairy tales and personal stories to American history, parody, humor, ghosts, and horror. Megan says her favorite story is always whichever one she happens to be telling at the moment—and she dives heart-first into every one.
Megan has performed at festivals throughout North America and has taken her storytelling around the world, touring libraries and bilingual schools in New Zealand, China, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. Her recordings span fractured fairy tales, historical fiction, personal history, and traditional tales, including stories recorded live at the National Storytelling Festival.
Closer to home, Megan and her husband—aptly named Jack—co-produce the Rose Valley Storytelling House Concerts, now in their eighth season.
In conversation, Megan will explore the art and craft of storytelling: where stories come from, how they change in the telling, what makes an audience lean in, and why this ancient art form remains such a powerful way to connect us to one another.
Rotary Arts Conversations are intimate, hour-long conversations with artists and creative thinkers, followed by a light reception and an opportunity to continue the conversation.
